The Fredonia Police Department is entering a new era.
That's the word from Fredonia City Administrator Evan Bolt. It came down to two final candidates, but David “Tyler” Decker has been named Chief of Police for Fredonia. Decker has been with the department since 2022 after relocating to the area in 2021 from leadership positions within Nebraska's agriculture industry.
Bolt says there are good things ahead for the department.
Decker takes over from former Chief Bradley Pflueger who left the department to pursue another job. Bolt says there's going to be an emphasis both physically and financially with a new police station in the works and more capital improvements.
The plan is to renovate a building at 515 Madison in Fredonia for a new police station.
