The Pawhuska city council passes the 2025-2026 fiscal year budget during last night's meeting.
The budget shows five job cuts from city employees, including two from the street department, one admin, one job from the fire department and one from the police department.
City Manager Jerry Eubanks says there is an alternative to cutting city employees.
Councilman Mark Buchanan stated he thought a budget could be made without anyone getting laid off.
Council members Rachel Prather and Ellen Weigant said they didn't want anyone to get laid off, but they believe some things need to change. Mayor Steve Tolson agreed, saying it is important that the city begin correcting financial errors from the past.
The budget passed by a 3-2 vote, with councilmen Buchanan and Rodger Milleson voting against it.
