A former Neosho school counselor and choir director pleads guilty to child sex crimes.
Newton County, Missouri, Prosecuting Attorney William Lynch says 41-year-old Jacob Oakes plead guilty yesterday morning in Newton County Court on charges of second-degree statutory rape.
Oakes admitted to having sex with the juvenile victim when she was younger than seventeen years old.
The victim stated the abuse took place from 2021 until March of last year, when Oakes was placed on leave from the school district. She stated the abuse always occurred at Oakes’ home.
Oakes’ sentencing date is set for August 25th.
