An Arkansas man is dead after being hit by a semi on a southwest Missouri interstate.

 The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the incident took place at 4:00 yesterday morning. A 24-year-old male from Belle Vista, Arkansas, was walking in the roadway when he was struck by a southbound Volvo semi, three miles north of Sheldon on Interstate 49.

 The pedestrian was pronounced dead by the Vernon County Deputy Coroner; the 42-year-old semi driver was uninjured.
