Parsons Woman Shot and Killed in Domestic Violence Incident

Two are dead after a domestic violence incident in Parsons.

Saturday at around 1:30am, Parsons Police officers were dispatched to the 1100 block of Richard Avenue. Multiple 911 callers reported hearing screams followed by two gunshots. Upon arrival, officers began speaking with witnesses and canvassing the area. They discovered a deceased female with a gunshot wound.

The victim's son reported that his mom and her boyfriend, 36-year-old Steve Antone McDonald, had gotten into a fight. The son told officers that McDonald hit him in the head during the argument, prompting his mom to leave. As she ran down the street, McDonald followed and fired two shots, killing her. Following the shooting, McDonald returned, took the victim's car keys, and fled the scene in a white 2000 Cadillac Escalade.

Law enforcement in Wilson County spotted the vehicle and Greenwood County deputies assisted in attempting a felony stop. During a short car chase, McDonald crashed the car. Deputies found McDonald with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. Emergency aid was rendered on the scene, but McDonald died from his injuries.

McDonald had a history of domestic violence. On April 24th he was arrested on multiple charges, including aggravated domestic battery, aggravated kidnapping, criminal threat, criminal damage to property, and endangering a child. He was released on bond on May 15th.
