A car – semi accident near the Vinita exit on I-44 yesterday causes an explosion, but only injures one.

 The accident happened when the driver of the car, 21-year-old Nurbin Remigio Hernandez-Guzman, lost control and struck the semi. The semi-truck left the roadway and went off a bridge onto Highway 60. The semi caught fire; the driver sustained only minor injuries.

 Hernandez-Guzman fled the scene on foot but was found and arrested in a nearby wooded area three hours later.

 He was booked into the Craig County Jail on charges of leaving the scene of an injury crash, reckless driving, obstruction, and driving without a license and current insurance.

 The crash remains under investigation, with the case submitted to the Craig County DA’s Office for review.
