Two former Pittsburg daycare operators are sentenced after an infant was found unresponsive under their watch last year.
Madison Thompson was charged with aggravated battery, aggravated endangerment of a child, two counts of endangerment, and possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
Whitney Henderson was charged with three counts of endangerment of a child after the incident, in which Pittsburg Police, Crawford EMS, and Pittsburg Fire responded to a 911 call reporting an infant not breathing. Emergency responders arrived and found the child unresponsive. The child was given aid and transported to Ascension Via Christi before being moved to Children's Mercy in Kansas City.
Thompson received a 60-day jail sentence, while Henderson received a 30-day jail sentence. Both Henderson and Thompson will have to pay over $106,000 to the infant's family.
