Flood warning continue for the Neosho River in southeast Kansas and northeast Oklahoma.
Forecast crests are now below previous estimates, with minor flooding expected for Chanute around 1 a.m. tomorrow morning as the river is expected to reach 23 feet. In Erie, the river should crest just over 29 feet, which is also minor flooding. The forecast for Parsons is 22.9 feet, which is near the moderate flood stage category.
In Oswego, the river is expected to crest at 20 feet tomorrow at 7 p.m. and start going down Friday afternoon. If the level in Oswego rises to 21 feet, Xavier Road north from the river gauge bridge floods and 13000 road along the north side of the river bank floods. West of Faulkner, homes along 120th Street between Star Road and Clem Road also begin to flood. This is not currently expected to happen, but could if river forecasts change.
Flooding is expected to be worse in Commerce, where the Neosho River is expected to reach moderate flood stage by 1 a.m. tomorrow and crest at 19.3 feet. At 19 feet, low lying areas around Miami become cut off from easy access. Riverview park will experience moderate flooding and State Highway 125 near the fairgrounds will be threatened.
Also in Oklahoma, the Caney River near Ramona is expected to crest at 26.9 feet, which is minor flooding. Further south at Collinsville, moderate flood stage will be reached by 7 tomorrow morning, with impacts to farmland and rural roads expected.
