After last week's storms, Nowata County declares there second disaster of the year. Commissioner Troy Friddle says road improvement techniques have gotten better, which has improved road conditions despite heavy rainfall.
The first disaster declaration came after a round of severe weather at the end of April. In other business, the Nowata County Sheriff's Office expressed the need to hire a full-time investigator. Emergency Manager Laurie Summers says there are benefits in hiring a new one.
The commissioners also continued their discussion from last week on the new general fund budget for the 2025-2026 fiscal year, opened bids for road oil and awarded a bid for Redi Mix concrete.
