A 22-year-old Carthage Man is seriously injured following a weekend crash near Neosho.
Mike Mendez Hernandez was traveling westbound on US-60 near the junction with Highway HH around 11:20 Saturday morning, when his 2004 Toyota Corolla left the roadway to the right and struck a guard rail. Hernandez attempted to gain control of the vehicle, but then went off the left side of the road and struck another guardrail. That collision forced the car off the road to the right once more, where it then went down an embankment, striking a fence and multiple trees before coming to rest.
Hernandez was taken to a Joplin hospital for treatment. Following an investigation by the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Hernandez was later arrested for DWI and given a court date for the charge.
