Cowley County Authorities to End Search Efforts for Missing Woman

Authorities in Cowley County are calling an end to the search for a missing Overland Park woman.

The Cowley County Sheriff's Office says no additional searches are planned in the case of Jerry McConnell, an 81-year-old woman who has been missing since May 14. McConnell was last seen on that day in Harrisonville, MO, and was believed to have been driving home to Overland Park. Her vehicle was later discovered on May 20th abandoned in a rural area of Cowley County north of US-160, just east of Moline. Since that time, authorities have been searching the area using ground and air searches, along with search and rescue dive teams from Augusta Fire and Rescue. No evidence of McConnell has been found.

Though the official searches have been called off, area residents and property owners are asked to check outbuildings, wells, and wooded areas for any sign of the missing woman.
