An escaped fugitive is back in custody.

 

36-year-old Anthony Mansfield was arrested last night by U.S Marshals in Kansas City, Missouri. Mansfield had been on the run since May 28, when he was placed on escape status after not returning to the Johnson County Department of Corrections Adult Residential Center in New Century, Kansas, a week ago.

 

Mansfield was serving an eight-month sentence in the minimum-security facility for a conviction of criminal damage to property.

 

Authorities have not released further details in the case, citing the ongoing investigation.
