The Coffeyville City Commission approves an application be submitted for a grant to help with expanding the fairgrounds.  City Manager Ben Brubaker says the fairgrounds play a key role in the economic impact of the city.

Brubaker says people who come to events at the fairgrounds are also going to local restaurants, shops and gas stations. Fair Board Member Shanna Motl says being able to expand and improve the fairgrounds is an amazing opportunity.

The commission voted unanimously to apply for the grant, which would be for $1.5 million.
