The City of Columbus will see repairs to some city sidewalks starting next week.

 

Starting on Monday, June 2nd, crews from Heck & Wicker, Inc. will be in Columbus constructing new sidewalks along West Maple Street and East Sycamore. The sidewalk work on West Maple will begin at the intersection of High School Avenue, extending west to Washington Avenue on the south side of the street.

 

The sidewalk work on East Sycamore will begin near the intersection with US-69, extending east to Reeves park, on the north side of the street.

 

The project also includes the installation of several new crosswalks and drainage improvements.

 

The work was made possible through a grant from the Kansas Department of Transportation's Transportation Alternatives program.

 

City officials say these much-needed improvements which will enhance the safety and walkability of the community.
