The Cherryvale City Administrator addresses a social media controversy regarding the City Pool.
In a Facebook post, City Administrator Michael Hall explained that admission price to the city pool would return to the 1999 rate of $2 per person in order to cover the rising costs of staffing, chemicals, and other operational costs. Hall also reiterated that the City would be supporting Free Swim Wednesdays each week through August, but that unused funds do not automatically roll over from year to year. Donations from previous seasons are unavailable due to municipal budgeting constraints. Each season's program must be funded during the current year.
Hall also stated that the pool and the city Public Works Department are also training new staff and that limiting the number of free swim days will help the city manage the needed staffing levels to ensure safety while continuing with consistent levels of maintenance on pool equipment.
The Cherryvale City Pool will open for the season on June 7th.
