A Wichita man is under arrest after making false claims of an active shooter at a Wichita business.
Wichita Police were called to the scene of a Walgreens store on North West Street on Monday evening after a 9-1-1 caller reported an active shooter at the store. The caller claimed that an individual with a gun had opened fire and that several people had been shot. However, when officers arrived, they discovered that there was no shooter and that everything seemed normal.
Officers identified 18-year-old Crispin Barjas as the 9-1-1 caller and arrested him at the scene for transmitting false information to emergency services. Investigators believe Barajas may have been under the influence of narcotics at the time of the incident.
No injuries were reported.
