The Midland Theater is one step closer to opening thanks to another generous donation.
Corey and Lisa Hugo of Hugo's Industrial Supply in Independence have donated $20,000 to the Midland through the Kansas Department of Commerce’s Community Service Program Tax Credits.
Corey, who was born and raised in Coffeyville, and his wife Lisa, a southeast Kansas native, spent time touring the theater and hearing about its rich history and bold plans for the future. Members of the Midland board would thank the Hugo family for believing in the power of preservation and the promise of the arts in Southeast Kansas.
The Midland Board's goal is to open the theater by 2028, which is the building's 100th anniversary. Plans are underway to begin work on the auditorium, which is the final phase of the project. To help fund this effort, a limited number of tax credits are available, and you can learn more about donation opportunities HERE.
