Manhunt Continues for Escaped Arkansas Prisoner

The manhunt continues for a prisoner who escaped from an Arkansas prison on Sunday afternoon.

Authorities say 56-year-old Grant Hardin walked away from the North Central Unit in Calico Rock in eastern Arkansas sometime between 2:50 and 3:40pm on Sunday afternoon. Hardin walked through a sally port wearing an Arkansas Department of Corrections uniform.

Hardin is the former chief of police for the city of Gateway in Benton County in northwest Arkansas. He was serving a 30 year sentence for first-degree murder and rape. Authorities say he has numerous connections and contacts in northwest Arkansas and southwest Missouri and that Hardin is considered extremely dangerous. He is described as a white male, about 6 feet tall and weighing about 270 pounds.
