Local firefighters respond to a truck fire near Independence.

Last night around 9:45, Independence Fire/EMS and Independence Rural Fire responded to the area of County Road 4000 and 3500 west of Independence Community College to a report of a vehicle fire. Upon arrival, crews found a 1990 Dodge pickup that was fully engulfed in flames. Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the fire and return to service. There were no injuries reported in the incident.
