Memorial Day Weekend Forecast: Severe Weather Possible, Flood Watch

 

Severe storm chances and a soggy Memorial Day Weekend is on the way.

 

According to the National Weather Service, there is a slight risk of severe weather today for most of southern Kansas, northern Oklahoma, southwest Missouri and northwest Arkansas. An initial round of weather could move through today between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m., then a second round of weather is possible after 7 p.m. The main threats include high winds and damaging hail.

 

A slight risk of severe weather is also possible tomorrow for the more immediate four-state area including much of northeast Oklahoma. Montgomery County will see storm chances both days.

 

A flood watch is also in effect for much of southeast Kansas including, Chautauqua, Montgomery, Wilson, Neosho and Labette Counties and areas to the north and east. Most of northeast Oklahoma, southwest Missouri and northwest Arkansas is also included in the flood watch. The Coffeyville area could see 4-6 inches of rain this weekend. The heaviest rain is expected between Saturday and Sunday night.
