Coffeyville will mark Memorial Day with a special commemoration coming up this holiday weekend.

 

On Monday, Organizer Loran Osborne says the plan is to put up 250 flags around the cemetery and they need help in the early morning and afternoon.

 

Anyone interested in volunteering can contact Osborne at 620-870-4128.

 

Then at 10 a.m., the Memorial Day program will start at the Veteran's Memorial Patio at Fairview Cemetery. Dr. David Wiggins says you can bring your lawn chairs and come early at 9:30 to enjoy the Coffeyville Municipal Band Concert. Wiggins says there will be a variety of community members participating in this year's events.

 

In case of rain, the event will be moved indoors to Grace Fellowship Church. Those unable to attend can hear all the events live on The Mighty 690 starting at 9:30 a.m., brought to you by Independence VFW Post 1186 and Farm Bureau Agent Anna Lawless.
