A former firefighter is charged in the 2024 off-duty death of one of his fellow firefighters.

 

A charge of Felony Involuntary Manslaughter has been filed in Jasper County against former firefighter Brant Cullen. The charges come in connection to the death of Tucker Berry in a golf cart accident on October 19, 2024.

 

A probable cause affidavit states that the defendant recklessly caused Berry's death by operating a golf cart at excessive speeds and swerving after consuming alcohol. Berry was standing on the back of the golf cart and then fell from the vehicle. The fall caused fatal injuries to Berry.

 

No arrest warrant has yet been issued for Cullen.

 

The family of Tucker Berry has also filed a wrongful death civil suit against Cullen and another firefighter Kreg Myers.
