An Arma man is sentenced to life in prison for first-degree murder in a 2023 shooting death in Pittsburg.

A jury handed down the sentence this week for 43-year-old Collin Pal Gepford of Neosho in a Crawford County courtroom. Gepford was convicted in March of the February 2023 shooting death of 51-year-old David Mays of Weir. Investigators say Gepford, along with Mays and Travis Conness, lured a fourth man to the scene when Gepford then fired a weapon into the man's car. The fourth man then fled the scene. Police believe the fatal shooting occurred as a result of an altercation between the remaining three men.

Gepford was also convicted of attempted first-degree murder, felony discharge of a firearm, and criminal in possession of a firearm. He will not be eligible for post-release supervision for nearly 53 years.
