City of Sedan Approves Agreement with Chautauqua County Animal Shelter

The City of Sedan approves a new contract with the Chautauqua County Animal Shelter.

The move comes after the two groups parted ways in January over a dispute regarding funding from the City and the Kansas Open Records Act. City Council Member Adam Clark has been unwavering in his stance that the shelter must agree to follow state law. After several heated meetings, the two parties were able to come to terms for a six-month contract. Clark says this will give the two groups more time to develop an agreement that will suit them both for the long term.

Council Member Janice Fine makes the motion and Mayor Brian Blankenship calls for the vote.

The newly elected President of the Friends of the Chautauqua County Animal Shelter Joe Reed was at this week's meeting for the approval.
