The Kansas Department of Transportation will host an open house event next week in Cherryvale.
The open house will be to provide information on a project that will reconstruct a section of US-160 near the Bartlett soybean plant. The project will run east of the US-160 junction with US-169 to the South Kansas & Oklahoma Rail crossing. The project will include widening of the driving lanes and adding turn lanes and shoulders. Construction is expected to begin later this year. That portion of US-160 will be closed during construction.
Next week's open house will take place on Thursday, May 29th, at the Cherryvale Community Center, located at 712 South Liberty. Area residents are invited to stop by between 4:30 and 6:30pm to view a project map and displays and talk with project staff. This will be a come-and-go event and there will be no formal presentation.
