Authorities in Oklahoma have issued a boil water order for the City of Hominy.

The order comes in the wake of damage to the primary water line transporting water to the treatment, forcing the town to be without water for several days. Water customers in Hominy should use water that has been brought to a full boil for at least one minute,  or use bottled water, or water from another acceptable source for consumption, use in food preparation, dishwashing and teeth brushing.

Users will be notified when the water is considered safe for human consumption. Federal law requires that consumers be notified when public water supply standards are not being met.
