Four County Mental Health Requests Funds From Montgomery County

Four County Mental Health requests funding from Montgomery County at this week's commission meeting.

Executive Director of Four County Greg Hennen spoke before the commission on Monday. Hennen says the agency's purpose is to provide mental health services to the residents of Montgomery, Cowley, Wilson, Elk and Chautauqua counties regardless of the patient's ability to pay.

Hennen says that a third of the County's tax receipts from the Special Liquor Tax is earmarked for Four County for alcohol and drug treatment.

Hennen also submitted a request for $160,000 to be allocated for general services, noting that Montgomery County ranks 100th out of the 105 Kansas counties in mental health funding. This increase in funding would move the county up to 87th on that list.
