Osage County Sheriff's Office Works To Improve Accountability

The Osage County Sheriff's Office is working to improve accountability through the use of audits.

Since taking office, Sheriff Bart Perrier has been working to clean up the Department's record keeping. One of the major findings from a recent audit is the discovery of 27 firearms. Perrier says it was a major oversight.

Nineteen of those guns have now been returned to their proper locations. Perrier says things like this are less likely to happen when audits are conducted yearly.

Perrier says there are eight pages of various items ranging from computers, chairs, Motorola radios and copiers that they have to get off of their inventory because it no longer exists. To surplus these items will require a resolution from the Osage County Commission.
