Cherokee County Sheriff’s deputies arrest a suspect in connection to a stolen vehicle in Oklahoma.
33-year-old Levi Rickman was arrested on Saturday after allegedly fleeing from and eluding police. The incident began when officers from the Galena Police Department attempted to stop a vehicle that had been reported stolen in Miami, OK. The driver fled and Galena Police turned the pursuit over to the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Department along with the Kansas Highway Patrol.
The suspect lost control of the vehicle just west of Baxter Springs and then fled on foot. Officers continued to search for the suspect for nearly four hours, when 9-1-1 dispatchers received a call about a suspicious person at an RV park near where the suspect had fled. Law enforcement arrived and identified Rickman as the driver of the vehicle.
Rickman is currently being held in the Cherokee County Jail where he faces multiple charges including fleeing and eluding, burglary, and aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer.
