Former KS Governor Announces Bid for 2026 Governor's Race

Former Kansas Governor Jeff Colyer announces his candidacy for the 2026 Kansas Governor's race.

Colyer made the announcement this week, citing President Trump's actions during the last presidential race as his inspiration to run. Colyer served as lieutenant governor under Sam Brownback and finished out his term as Governor after Brownback resigned in 2018. Colyer then ran for a full term but was defeated in a close Republican primary by Kris Kobach. He ran again in 2022, but withdrew from the race for health reasons.

Colyer joins Secretary of State Scott Schwab, Wichita business woman Stacy Rogers, and conservative podcaster from Olathe Doug Billings in the race for the Republican nomination.

No Democrat has yet entered the race.
