DUI Charges Dropped Against Man in Fatal UTV Crash

DUI charges have been dropped against a man in Ottawa County in connection to the UTV crash that killed a 9-year-old Commerce boy.

The Ottawa County District Attorney's Office has announced it has dropped the DUI charges against Douglas Gray. The 67-year-old Gray was driving the UTV side-by-side involved in the April 22 accident that killed 9-year-old Easton Freeman. Witnesses to the accident say Freeman was running alongside the vehicle when he slipped in the mud, fell, and was hit by the UTV. The boy later died from his injuries at a Tulsa hospital.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol investigated the accident and indicated that Gray had refused preliminary breath and blood tests at the scene and originally submitted a recommendation to charge Gray with manslaughter. However, prosecutors decided to file only the DUI charge, which has now been dropped.

The O-H-P says it is continuing to investigate the case.
