I-70 in western Kansas was closed briefly last night due to visibility issues caused by blowing dust.
Both lanes of the interstate were closed to all traffic for nearly two hours late Wednesday night between Goodland and the Colorado border due to hazardous travel conditions. This comes on the heels of Governor Laura Kelly's recent proclamation that all counties in the state are currently under a drought watch at a minimum. Counties in south central Kansas are under a drought warning, while Reno, Harvey, and Sedgwick counties are under a drought emergency as dry conditions persist across the state.
All lanes of traffic on I-70 were reopened around midnight last night.
Drivers can get the latest updates on road closures and conditions, by visiting kandrive.gov, or calling 511 in Kansas or 866-511-5368 outside Kansas.
