Police Standoff Ends with Suspect Arrest in Nevada

A Nevada man is in custody on kidnapping charges following a brief standoff with police.

Deputies from the Vernon County Sheriff's Office went to the residence of Brian Pearce earlier this week to serve an arrest warrant based on an incident that occurred on March 25. On that day, police were called to Pearce's residence after a car accident occurred on the nearby road. Three teenage boys were involved in the crash, and Pearce is alleged to have approached the boys and demanded they leave his property while holding them at gunpoint.

Authorities say Pearce yelled at the boys and forced them to sit in the ditch with their hands behind their heads. A witness recorded a video of the incident.

When police attempted to serve the arrest warrant on Pearce this week, he briefly barricaded himself inside his home. He did finally surrender to authorities without incident.

Pearce now faces charges of unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful use of a weapon, and three counts of 3rd degree kidnapping.
