A former U.S. Senator from Missouri has died.
Christopher “Kit” Bond passed away on May 13 at the age of 86. Bond was a sixth generation Missourian who was born in St. Louis on March 6, 1939. He attended Princeton University and the University of Virginia School of Law. He began his political career in 1968 when he ran for Congress, but lost in the general election. In 1972, Bond became the youngest governor in Missouri's history at the age of 33. He would win the office again in 1981 to be the state's 47th and 49th governor. He served as U.S. Senator from Missouri from 1987 through 2011.
Bond passed away in St. Louis yesterday.
