The USD 447 Cherryvale-Thayer School Board approves funding for the purchase of HVAC materials and new Chromebooks for students.
At Monday's meeting, board members voted to approve the purchase of HVAC equipment for Lincoln Central at a cost of $170,000. Installation will not take place until the summer of 2026, but the funding was approved because costs are expected to increase in the next year. Superintendent Travis Githens says, the purchase makes sense to save money and that the district has room to store the materials.
In other action, the board also approved the purchase of new student Chromebooks. Board member Phil Murphy voted in favor of the measure but also wonders if there's too much emphasis on screen time.
The Board approved the purchase by a 6-0 vote.
