The Kansas Department of Transportation is warning the public about scam texts currently circulating that demand payment for unpaid tolls and claim to be from KDOT.

KDOT reminds citizens that it does not collect roadway tolls or request payment via text message. Anyone receiving a text like this is advised that it is a scam and that the text should be deleted immediately and reported as spam. Do not click or open any links in the message because this may expose personal information to the scammers.

Never share personal or financial information via text message or by clicking on unknown links. If you think you may have provided payment information at a fraudulent website, contact your bank or credit card company immediately.
