Montgomery County Seeks Grants to Cover Costs of Repairs to County Bridges

Montgomery County looks to apply for grant money to help cover the cost of repairs to county bridges.

At this week's Montgomery County Commission meeting, Director of Public Works Brandon Beurskins told commissioners that there were two grant programs that might cover county projects: the Off-system Bridge Program and the Local Bridge Improvement Program. There are four bridges that would qualify for the Off-System grant and another three for the Local Bridge Program. Beurskins says the county would be required to contribute matching funds for each.

Commissioner Robert Bever says this might be a good time to look into possible solutions for a low-water crossing on County Road 6200, north of Cherryvale.

In other business, commissioners approved a request from Rural Fire to seeks bids on the purchase of 14 sets of new bunker gear for firefighters.
