A weekend fire in Webb City causes considerable damage to a historic home.
A fire broke out early Sunday morning at the historic home of Elizabeth Jane Eliza Webb Stewart Chinn, also known as Jane Chinn. She was born in Tennessee in 1829 and was a cousin of Webb City founder John Webb.
The fire at the home broke out around 2am on Sunday morning and fire crews arrived on the scene to find smoke and flames coming out of the second-floor windows of the building. All occupants of the structure were able to safely escape the blaze and utilities to the home have been turned off due to the extensive damage.
The Missouri State Fire Marshal has been called in to investigate the cause of the fire.
