The former pastor of a Texas mega church will make an appearance in an Osage County courtroom today where he faces five felony counts of lewd or indecent acts with a child.
In December of last year, 63-year-old Robert Morris was indicted by a multi-county grand jury for the alleged acts that are said to have occurred in Hominy between December 1982 and January 1985. Morris was visiting the home of the alleged victim, who was 12 years old at the time. Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond has stated that the 7-year statute of limitations does not apply in this case because Morris was not a resident of Oklahoma when the crimes are said to have occurred.
Morris resigned as pastor of Gateway Church in the Dallas suburb of Southlake, Texas, last summer. The church is among the largest in the United States.
