A Pittsburg woman is injured in a late afternoon crash with a semi on US-400.

The accident happened around 5:15 yesterday on US-400 near the junction with US-169 north of Cherryvale. 78-year-old Patricia Pickering was eastbound on 400 when she crossed the center line into the westbound lane. The semi driver – 34-year-old Joel Amos of Emporia – drove onto the westbound shoulder in an attempt to avoid the collision. Pickering also moved toward the shoulder, where she collided with the big rig. Pickering sustained minor injuries in the crash and was taken to Labette Health in Parsons for treatment. Amos was uninjured.
