Cybersecurity Class in Montgomery County

Montgomery County is hosting a free class for anyone interested in learning more about cybersecurity.

Emergency Management Director Rick Whitson says digital threats are increasingly important in the 21st century.

Whitson says he's hosted similar events for business leaders but wanted to go a slightly different direction with this upcoming training session.

The training will cover web browsing security, passkeys and password hygiene, securing social media, who has your information online and more. The course will taught by Texas Extension Office Cybersecurity Training Manager Wade McCain and will be held at Memorial Hall in Independence on Tuesday, May 13th from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. A FEMA ID is required but can be easily obtained prior to the event if you don't have one.
