An opportunity to get the kids outside and on the lake fishing is coming up this weekend.

 

The Coffeyville Recreation Commission is hosting the 32nd Annual Youth Fishing Derby this Sunday, May 4th at LeClere Park.

 

There are several different age divisions between ages 4 and 16, and Coffeyville Tourism Director Wyatt Starnes says registration will start in the early afternoon.

 

Official fishing time is 1:30 to 3 p.m. Awards will be handed out at 3:15, and free hot dogs, pop and chips will be available while supplies last. All participants must be registered by a parent or guardian, and all fishing must take place from the bank. Artificial or live bait can be used. The event this Sunday is free to attend, and the forecast currently calls for sunny skies and a high in the upper 60s.
