This week's heavy rains cause the patch in an Oklahoma dam to fail.
A patch made to the Lake Waxhoma Dam in 2021 in Osage County has failed. The failure caused water to pour over the damaged section of the spillway, leading to some concerns about downstream flooding. However, Osage County Emergency Manager Jerry Roberts says things are under control.
A patch was made to the dam after a similar issue in May 2021, but a permanent repair has yet to be made. Roberts says his crews have dealt with this problem before.
Lake Waxhoma is located just east of Barnsdall.
