An Independence man faces multiple charges after a weekend incident.

I-P-D officers were called to the scene on Saturday night in the 1200 block of West Locust Street. Emergency calls indicated an active disturbance in the area. After an investigation, 23-year-old Willie James-Ethen Smith was taken into custody. Smith faces charges of criminal threat, causing a terror evacuation, aggravated intimidation of a witness, and threat of force.
