The Montgomery County Commission is considering its options on what to do with a low-water crossing north of Cherryvale.
The crossing over Drum Creek on County Road 6200 has been closed for over a year while the commission decides its fate. At the April 14 commission meeting, Public Works Director Brandon Beurskins told commissioners about the recent assessment of the bridge by an outside engineering firm.
At that time, commissioners thought the price tag was too high to warrant replacement, but the next week, residents from the area attended the meeting to voice their desire to repair the crossing. At the most recent meeting, Commissioner Robert Bever says the County is looking for a way to keep from closing the crossing.
For now, the crossing will remain closed until the County Commission decides to repair it or close it permanently.
