Severe Thunderstorms in Area, Flood Watch Issued

A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for the KGGF listening area this morning.

From now through 10 a.m., a severe thunderstorm watch will be in effect for southeast Kansas, including Chautauqua, Cherokee, Cowley, Elk, Labette, Montgomery, Neosho and Wilson Counties in southeast Kansas, northeast Oklahoma including Osage County east to the state line, extreme western Missouri and northwest Arkansas. Winds up to 60 mph and large hail are the primary concerns.  Some severe thunderstorm warnings have already been issued this morning for northeast Oklahoma.  Tune to The Mighty 690 for details.

After this round of storms, flooding concerns become the main issue, as a flood watch has been issued for the entire four-state area, with up to 4 inches of rain possible through Thursday.
