The Kansas Bureau of Investigation is called in to help with the investigation of a shooting that occurred late last week in Russell.
Russell Police were called to the scene around 9:30 last Thursday after a citizen called 9-1-1 to report a shooting. Upon arrival, officers found 49-year-old Deborah Torres suffering from gunshot wounds. Torres told police that her husband was still inside the home. Officers went inside and discovered 49-year-old Robert Torres dead from gunshot wounds.
After an investigation, officers believed that the suspect in the case to be 33-year-old Robert “Bobby” Torres, the son of the deceased victim and stepson of the other victim.
Bobby Torres was quickly located and arrested. He has been booked into the Russell County Jail on a charge of first-degree murder.
Deborah Torres was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
The K-B-I continues to investigate the case.
