With the warm spring weather comes another season familiar to residents of the four-state area: Road construction season.

 

And with road construction comes work zones. Work zones can be dangerous places for drivers and workers. In 2022, there were more than 96,000 work zones crashes nationwide with nearly 900 fatalities. The group Work Zone Safe has partnered with several state departments of transportation to create a free, online course to teach teens and other new drivers about safe driving in work zones.

 

The State of Oklahoma requires teen drivers to complete the Work Zone Safe course in order to obtain and Intermediate Drivers License and other young drivers can benefit from the course, as well. The course can be taken online at any time of day. The course will include information on safe behaviors, laws and situations drivers may encounter in work zones.
