An Inola man is found guilty by a Rogers County jury in the 2023 shooting death of his girlfriend.

 

Jericho Haverstick was found guilty yesterday (on Thursday) after jurors in the case deliberated for just over an hour. The incident occurred on April 19, 2023, when Haverstick placed a 9-1-1 call stating that his girlfriend – 22-year-old Eliza Arthurs – had been shot in the head. Police arrived on the scene to find the woman lying in a field alongside the roadway. She was taken to a hospital where she later died.

 

Authorities say Haverstick shot Arthurs because she did not want to marry him.

 

The jury in the case has recommended a sentence of life in prison without parole for Haverstick. He will be sentenced at a later date.
