The City of Neosho is investigating a viral use-of-force video that has been making the rounds on social media involving several law enforcement officers and a juvenile.
The incident shown in the video occurred at the intersection of Valley and Coler Streets in Neosho on the afternoon of April 22. The video shows a juvenile male walking along the street when he is approached by what appear to be two police officers. The boy stops and responds when the first officer yells at him. That officer then shoves the boy, who is then taken to the ground from behind by another officer. The City says the first officers on the scene were from the Neosho Police Department and the Newton County Juvenile Office. Officers from the Neosho School District then arrived on the scene as well. The Neosho Police Department says the juvenile shown in the video was not injured in the incident.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol has been requested to conduct an unbiased investigation into the incident.
